Kingdom stories from our church

Why We Blog...

The idea for this blog came out of a study of Hebrews chapter 11.
The stories of the faithful Israelites that are told in this chapter were written to encourage the first century Jewish Christians were were facing persecution, and we were reminded of the power of stories to encourage and energize us in our own faith. Thus, in reflecting on these stories,we realized that God's work in history [I've always found it intriguing that the Germans use the word, geschichte, to mean both story and history] prevents our faith from being totally "blind."

We decided to start this blog to chronicle the work that God is doing in and through our little church community in Indianapolis. At some point down the road we hopefully will be able to look back on these stories and praise God for the ways that he has worked in our midst and directed us. Perhaps others also might read these stories and be encouraged and challenged by them. The bottom line is that these stories are recorded to bear witness -- in some small way -- to the Kingdom of God, that grand meta-story of God's reign and work of reconciling all creation to Himself. Because we write these stories as servants of the Kingdom, we pray that our own selfish agendas in writing will be drowned out by God's perfect kingdom-building agenda.

We pray with Jesus, as we write:

That His Kingdom would come and His will would be done

On Earth as it is in Heaven.
